    Mr. Vincent Agaba

Visionary · Industry Pioneer · Founding President, AREA Uganda

In 2008, Mr. Vincent Agaba convened a small group of pioneers with a bold conviction: that Uganda's real estate sector deserved structure, ethics, and a unified professional voice. Under his founding leadership, AREA Uganda was born — laying the cornerstone for what would become the country's leading real estate membership body.

"We set out to build more than an association — we set out to build trust, standards, and a profession Uganda could be proud of."

    — Mr. Vincent Agaba, Founding President

    Our History

From Informal Markets to a Professional Industry

For over 15 years, AREA Uganda has championed the transformation of Uganda's real estate sector — from an unregulated practice into a recognized, professional, and policy-shaping industry.

    2008

    The Founding

From Informal Markets to a Professional Industry

AREA Uganda was founded to address a critical gap in Uganda's property sector. At the time, real estate was largely informal, fragmented, and unregulated. From the beginning, our mission has been clear: professionalize the industry, build trust, and create a unified voice for practitioners across Uganda.

    2008 – 2012

    Laying the Foundation

Building the structures of a credible profession

In our early years, we focused on building the structures that would define a credible profession.

    • Introduced Uganda's first formal real estate training programs in partnership with global institutions
    • Supported the creation of the East Africa Regional Real Estate Training Center
    • Expanded beyond Kampala, establishing regional chapters in Gulu and Hoima
    • Fostered early talent through partnerships with academic institutions
    • Launched initiatives to promote women's participation and leadership in real estate
    2012 – 2018

    Growth and Industry Influence

Becoming the voice of the sector

As membership grew, AREA Uganda evolved into a central platform for collaboration and industry development.

    • Built a diverse membership base of firms, individual practitioners, and students
    • Established structured membership categories and professional standards
    • Expanded training in brokerage, property management, and real estate investment
    • Strengthened partnerships with financial institutions, developers, and government
    2018 – Present

    Shaping Policy and Professional Standards

A strategic role in Uganda's property market

Today, AREA Uganda plays a strategic role in shaping the future of Uganda's property market — as a membership body, a policy actor, a training institution, and a connector across the ecosystem.

    • Engages with the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development on policy and regulation
    • Contributes to national data initiatives such as the Property Price Index
    • Advocates for transparency, ethical practice, and improved land governance
    • Continues to deliver industry-leading training and certification programs

    Driving Inclusion & Impact

Real estate that works for everyone

Beyond market growth, AREA Uganda is committed to inclusive development. Through initiatives such as women's land ownership and access programs, we work to ensure that real estate contributes to equitable economic opportunity for all Ugandans.
